Kapeet (yksikkö kave) ovat suomalaisen kansanrunouden tuntemia ilmaan ja taivaaseen liittyviä olentoja. Kapeet olivat hämäläisiä henkiolentoja, jotka kavensivat kuuta aiheuttaen kuunpimennyksen.
Tämä veistos on tehty tuusulalaisesta männyn juurakosta. Männyn juurakoiden sisältämä pihka pitää pinnaltaan jo täysin lahonneen kannon ydinosan hyvin pitkään suojassa maatumiselta. Jalusta on vanhaa vuosikausia ulkoilmassa patinoitunutta kuparia.

This sculpture is made from the rootstock of a pine tree from Tuusula. The resin in the pine roots keeps the core of the stump – already completely rotten on the surface – protected from decay for a long time. The stand is made of old copper that has picked up patina after years outdoors.
